The Great Frontier DONATE – Let's Talk Up A Cause!
Frequently asked questions.
Q: Why is Frontier initiating a food drive/donation program?
A: Frontier has a long history of giving back to the communities we serve. We have a strong local presence. Our employees are committed to our customers and to the communities they reside in and serve.
- Especially during these tough economic times, Frontier wants to help those individuals who are having difficulty providing for the basics, such as food to feed their families.
- One way we can help is to launch a donation program in partnership with the United Way and other local non-profit organizations.
Q: How long does the Great Frontier Donate program last?
A: May – October, 2009 (6 months)
Q: Why did Frontier select the United Way and not some other organization with which to partner?
A: Since Frontier operates in 24 states, we want to partner with a respected national organization that maintains a strong local focus. As families and relief agencies struggle with the consequences of unemployment, foreclosures and a global recession, food banks are experiencing an increased need to fill the pantries. We want to contribute to hunger relief projects; therefore the United Way is a good conduit to direct contributions to the local food pantries and relief centers.
Q: What if there is no United Way within my community?
A: In the absence of a local United Way, Frontier will partner with another organization that can target support to the local food banks.
Q: How much money will Frontier donate through this program?
A: Frontier expects to donate up to $250,000 nationwide, as well as food donations received through employee and public food drives.
Q: How can customers and community members participate?
A: We invite the community to share in the spirit of giving in these ways:
- First, Frontier is giving back directly every time a new customer is installed with any Frontier service that includes Long Distance. For individuals who sign up for Frontier's Long-Distance voice-calling, we'll make a donation to the local United Way to be directed to the local food bank.
- Existing customers can participate by upgrading their long distance service to a Frontier bundle or by upgrading to a higher bundle.
- Our Retail Centers will be collection points for this DONATE campaign where community members can drop off dry goods and canned food items, as well as personal toiletry items and household products, in designated collection containers.
- Customers can stop by any of our Retail Centers to learn more about signing up for Frontier Long-Distance.
- As part of Frontier's ongoing involvement in our local community activities, collection containers will be at Frontier booths/tents. At town festivals, fairs and other events, people can drop off food donation items at the Frontier tent, and learn more about signing up for our Long-Distance service, which will result in an additional donation to their food pantries.
- Customers may also donate by cash or check (made out to the local United Way). Donations should be mailed to Frontier or dropped off at a Frontier Retail Center with a notation that this money is for the Great Frontier DONATE.
Q: What else will Frontier do to aid the food banks?
A: Our employees will host food drives, with designated drop-off containers placed at employee locations. Our local managers will work with the United Ways in their communities to identify the specific food relief programs to receive our donations.
Q: Is it only food items that Frontier will accept?
A: Food pantries typically need nonperishables such as canned and dry goods; however, we'll also accept personal toiletry items such as toothpaste, soap, shampoo, razors; baby items like disposable diapers and wipes; and household products such as laundry detergent, light bulbs and other commonly used items.
Q: Will my donation – either the food I drop-off or the percentage of monies from my long-distance service – be tax deductible?
A: Individuals should consult their personal tax advisors regarding deduction eligibility questions.
Q: How will I know that my food donations or the percentage of monies from my long-distance usage will be going directly to help my local community?
A: Our partnership with your local United Way will ensure that all donations – food and money – will be directed to the food pantries and relief agencies where you reside.
Q: Where can I find more information about the Great Frontier DONATE?
A: Information is available online at Frontier.com/Donate, on Facebook.com and on Linked-In.com.
