Netscape


Netscape Mail is no longer being developed or supported by Mozilla. They recommend that you upgrade to  Mozilla Thunderbird for free—then you can follow our Thunderbird instructions. If you want to keep using Netscape Mail, these are the instructions you need:

To enable SMTP Authentication in Netscape 6.x or 7.x:

  1. Open Netscape and click Edit > Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings.

  2. Select Server Settings.

    Note: If you receive email from a provider other than Frontier, your account name may differ from what appears in the image below.

  3. Look at the Server Name field beneath the Server Settings section heading.
    • If your Server Name is set to:
      • pop3.frontier.com
      • pop3.frontiernet.net
      • pop3.citlink.net
      • pop3.newnorth.net or
      • in.epix.net
      make sure that your complete Frontier, FrontierNet, Citlink, Newnorth, or Epix email address is present in the User Name field.
    • If your Server Name is set to mail.ctaz.com, make sure that your complete CTAZ email address is present in the User Name field, in the format of username@citlink.net (replace ctaz.com with citlink.net). Please note, this will not change your email address.
    • If your Server Name is set to something other than:
      • pop3.frontier.com
      • pop3.frontiernet.net
      • pop3.citlink.net
      • mail.ctaz.com
      • pop3.newnorth.net or
      • in.epix.net
      no changes are needed.
  4. Select Outgoing Server [SMTP] from the left side of the window.

    • If your Server Name is set to:
      • smtp.frontier.com
      • smtp.frontiernet.net
      • smtp.citlink.net
      • smtp.newnorth.net or
      • out.epix.net
      select the checkbox to the left of Use name and password and enter your complete Frontier, FrontierNet, Citlink, Newnorth, or Epix email address in the User Name field.
    • If your Server Name is set to mail.ctaz.com, enter your complete CTAZ email address in the User Name field in the format of username@citlink.net (replace ctaz.com with citlink.net). Please note, this will not change your email address.
    • If your Server Name is set to something other than:
      • smtp.frontier.com
      • smtp.frontiernet.net
      • smtp.citlink.net
      • mail.ctaz.com
      • smtp.newnorth.net or
      • out.epix.net
      no changes are needed.
  5. Click OK to save your changes.
