Using an FTP program, you can move items from your PC to your personal web space. The following are instructions for uploading a web page using an FTP program such as SmartFTP (for Windows; free trial available) or CuteFTP (for PCs running Windows or Mac; free trial available). Typically, you'll need to enter the address of the FTP server, your username and password.
The FTP server address you log in to depends on your email address:
|If your email address ends with…||Your FTP server is…|
(replace "username" with the part of your email address before the @ symbol)
Note: If your email address ends with @frontier.com, you'll need to disable Passive FTP to be able to connect to the FTP server. Click the PASV button as shown in the example below to unhighlight it.
To upload your files with an FTP program:
- Log in to the address explained above and you'll see two folders: public_ftp and public_html. Click the public_html folder.
- Drag the files from your local computer files to the FTP server window.
- Once your files are in the public_html folder, anyone can reach them on the Internet.
