Frontier works hard to negotiate fair deals with third-party content providers for you. We determined that the cost of NHL Network was not sustainable particularly because there are other options available. For this reason, NHL has been removed from the lineup.
We would have liked to continue to offer NHL Center Ice, but the NHL only makes this service available to TV providers who offer the NHL Network.
We fight hard for our customers in these negotiations, but the ballooning cost of live sports programming has driven up cable bills, as networks' increasing live sports production costs are forced upon TV providers and our customers.
Sports programming represents a significant portion of our content costs.
NHL games are available on ABC, ESPN, TNT, and TBS. NHL Center Ice games are available with a paid subscription to ESPN+. Additionally, we still have this programming available for you through alternative viewing options with our partners, DirecTV Stream, fuboTV and Sling TV. Call us to learn more at 1.844.779.3919.
Why was I not informed earlier?
We would have preferred to communicate this news earlier but were restricted by the terms of our contract.
Should I change providers?
As content costs continue to rise, this situation is not unique to Frontier. All providers are compelled to continually reassess their channel and content lineup. Ultimately, no provider is immune from network negotiations. Even if you consider switching now, chances are that you will experience similar disruptions with another provider down the line.
What about my bill?
There are no changes to your bill and NHL Center Ice customers will not be billed for the 2021/2022 season. If you’d like to talk about other ways to view this programming or for billing questions, call us at 1.844.779.3919.
