A commitment to diversity and inclusion is at the heart of Frontier Communications. This commitment makes us stronger and better equipped to serve the communities across our 29 state footprint. We are proud of the tireless efforts of our employees who every day are living demonstrations of this commitment—both inside and outside of work.
David Damian Figueroa, our Assistant Vice President of Brand and Content Strategic Alliances, is just one of those employees and we congratulate him on receiving the 2017 Dolores Huerta Award from Farmworker Justice, an award honoring those devoted to the fight for civil rights.
Having been a child farm worker himself, David Damian knows, first-hand, about the difficulties and struggles farm workers face in the United States, and he feels proud to come from generations of them. “I spent most of my summers and many weekends working in the fields and orchards of Southern Arizona, and my entire adult-life bringing these hardships to light and working for solutions,” says David Damian.
Partnering with actors/activists Eva Longoria, Forest Whitaker, and author Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation), David Damian has brought greater focus to the issue, working as executive producer on the critically-acclaimed documentary Food Chains, and as associate producer of The Harvest—The Children Who Feed America/La Cosecha—Los niños que alimentan America.
In his current role at Frontier Communications, David Damian is a key liaison with community leaders and organizations with which we partner in continued innovation, bridging the digital divide, and delivering affordable broadband. “We value these partnerships and are proud to have the support of organizations such as MALDEF, Cesar Chavez Foundation and the Dolores Huerta Foundation,” explains David Damian.
Raising awareness about the value of diversity and inclusion is the backbone of David Damian's professional career and although he doesn't pretend to know everything about forging strategic partnerships “is remaining committed to them that he can ultimately make a difference and bring about change,” he explains.
Congratulations, David Damian!
