Annual Golf Classic sets record

One hundred twenty golfers teamed up to score a $31,000 donation to Rebuilding Together North Texas, a non-profit organization that retrofits the homes of veterans who have suffered injuries during deployment.

The second annual tournament put Frontier Communications manufacturing partners in foursomes with the Frontier employees they work with for a day of fun and building relationships. Twenty-three different sponsors signed up to play, and many included their Frontier colleagues in their foursomes.

"Typically, we interact through tough negotiations,” said Chris Bedford, Account Manager and Director of Innovation for corporate partner GDT, which has been the event title sponsor for the past two years. "It was great to have relaxed conversations, get out of the office, bond over a game of golf and support a great cause."

Adding to the festivities, the various sponsors created experiences at different holes along the course that included giving away ice cream, setting up cornhole games with prizes and offering $25,000 for a player who hit a hole-in-one, though no one did that day. After golf, players relaxed over dinner and picked up well-deserved trophies.

A focus on local charities
This tournament is in keeping with Frontier's mission to help both local communities and military veterans. As Scott Mispagel, Frontier's SVP, Network Architecture and Engineering, said, "The partnership that Frontier has established with Rebuilding Together is a great fit for our core values. It's a privilege to be part of a fun event that gives our employees an afternoon of teamwork and benefits our community."

The enthusiasm was shared by Rebuilding Together, too. Cara Mendelsohn, Executive Director, said, "What makes a company great is the employees and it's clear the Frontier Communication staff are dedicated, smart, funny, and full of heart! How wonderful to see so much support for people in the community who have nowhere else to turn. We played, laughed, and in the end, every person there made a difference in a veteran's life. With the proceeds of this tournament, we will be able serve approximately 10 veterans who urgently need assistance. From making sure the electricity and water are turned on to providing handicap accessibility, we are proud to serve the community together with our caring partners at Frontier!"

That day was a winner!
