Hi. With so many devices today it can really be difficult knowing how to connect your wireless device. Today I'm going to walk you through several easy steps to hook up your particular device to your wireless network.
We're going to work with a number of devices including the Apple devices, so if you have an iPod Touch, an iPad, or an iPhone this will be the way that you use to hook up your Apple device. We'll also work with the Kindle, which is a very popular e-reader, and how to hook it up wirelessly to your Wi-Fi device.
We'll also work with the Android devices. Android is an operating system used by several manufacturers, so if you have a device by HTC, Google, Motorola, or Samsung, you're probably dealing with an Android operating system.
And we’ll also take a look at the Windows 8 Phone and see how to set it up on the Windows 8 Phone. In a future video, we'll also show you how to hook up your BlackBerry wirelessly. Until then, there's some really great information on their site at www.blackberry.com.
Before we get started, the first thing you're going to want to do is take your router and look for the label on the bottom. This will show you your network name, or SSID, as well as your WPA password which you'll need to input into your device. Please write those down—you'll be needing them later.
We're going to start by showing you how to set up the Apple devices, so if you have an iPad, an iPhone, or an iPod Touch you want to see this. If you have a Kindle, or an Android device, or a Windows 8 Phone, you may want to skip forward to that section.
Let's start with the Apple devices. All of the Apple devices have iOS as their operating system, so the process is going to be similar whether you have an iPad, an iPhone, or an iPod Touch, which is what we're using for demonstration purposes. Go to your main menu, find settings, tap on Settings, then tap on Wi-Fi. Make sure your Wi-Fi is on and then find the SSID that you discovered on the bottom label of your router. Type in the password that you previously wrote down and then tap join. It’ll now handshake with your router and your wireless service will be up.
This is a Kindle Paperwhite. Kindle is a very popular e-reader. In order to set up your Kindle wirelessly, you want to go to your main menu, select the three horizontal lines in the upper right hand corner. Go to the Settings, then select Wi-Fi networks. It will go out and search all the available Wi-Fi networks. You want to select your SSID from the group and then type in the password that you wrote down previously. Hit connect and it will go out and handshake and set up your wireless connection.
If you have an Android device, you want to move down to Settings, make sure that your Wi-Fi is turned on, and then click on Wi-Fi, and then it'll search to find the available networks. Select your SSID, and it'll ask you for a password. Enter your password that you wrote down previously. Hit Connect and it will go out and handshake and set up your wireless connection.
On your Windows 8 Phone you want to move down to Settings and then click on Wi-Fi. Make sure that your Wi-Fi is turned on, and then it'll search to find the available networks. Select your SSID, and it'll ask you for a password. Enter your password that you wrote down previously, and when you're done go ahead and hit the enter key. It will go ahead and handshake with your modem and you'll be up and running wirelessly on your Windows 8 Phone.
Please keep this video for future reference and thanks for watching.
