Overview


 Cookies allow web sites to store little bits of information on your computer that may save you time or enable the web site to deliver customized information to you. Some web sites may require the cookies, and other web sites may be using them to get a little too nosy. If you'd rather be more private, you may not want to allow cookies. But if a site you use frequently needs them to operate properly, these instructions will help you allow those good cookies.

For instructions, choose your favorite browser:

Browser software is always being updated to provide better security, and since it's free, you should  download the latest version of Chrome directly from Google. As of this writing, Chrome is up to version 50.

To accept cookies in Google Chrome:

  1. Near the top right corner of your Google Chrome window, click the Tools icon and select Settings.

  2. Click Show advanced settings… on the bottom of the Settings page.
  3. Click the Content settings… button in the Privacy section.
  4. To allow cookies, select Allow local data to be set (recommended) and click Done.
  5. Close the Settings tab or navigate to another page to exit.

Browser software is always being updated to provide better security, and since it's free, you should  download the latest version of Internet Explorer directly from Microsoft. As of this writing, IE is up to version 11.

To allow cookies in Internet Explorer:

  1. Click Tools > Internet Options and click the Privacy tab at the top.
  2. You'll see a slider bar that runs up and down. Drag the slider bar to the medium setting.
  3. Click Apply > OK, then close and reopen Internet Explorer.

Browser software is always being updated to provide better security, and since it's free, you should  download the latest version of Firefox directly from Mozilla. As of this writing, Firefox is up to version 45.

To accept cookies in Firefox:

  1. Click the Tools icon in the top right corner of the Firefox window and select Options.

  2. Click the Privacy tab.
  3. Click the checkbox next to Accept cookies from sites. You can keep the default settings of Always and Keep until they expire.

  4. Click OK.

Browser software is always being updated to provide better security, and since it's free, you should  download the latest version of Safari directly from Apple. The version number you will use depends on your operating system. You can use Safari on a Windows computer or a Mac.

To allow cookies in Safari:

  1. Click Safari > Preferences.

  3. In the Block Cookies section, select Never and click to close the window. If asked, Save your changes.
  4. Close and reopen Safari.
