Windows Live Mail

To enable SMTP Authentication in Windows Live Mail:

  1. Open Windows Live Mail and right-click your mail account. Click Properties.

  2. Select the Servers tab.

  3. Look at the Incoming mail (POP3) and Outgoing mail (SMTP) fields.

    • If your Incoming mail (POP3) is set to:
      • pop3.frontier.com
      • pop3.frontiernet.net
      • pop3.citlink.net
      • pop3.newnorth.net or
      • in.epix.net
      make sure that your complete Frontier, FrontierNet, Citlink, Newnorth, or Epix email address is present in the E-mail username field.
    • If your Incoming mail (POP3) is set to mail.ctaz.com, your CTAZ email address should be placed in the E-mail username field in the format of username@citlink.net (replacing ctaz.com with citlink.net). Please note, this will not change your email address.
    • If your Incoming mail (POP3) is set to something other than:
      • pop3.frontier.com
      • pop3.frontiernet.net
      • pop3.citlink.net
      • mail.ctaz.com
      • pop3.newnorth.net or
      • in.epix.net
      no changes are needed.
    • If your Outgoing mail (SMTP) is set to:
      • smtp.frontier.com
      • smtp.frontiernet.net
      • smtp.citlink.net
      • mail.ctaz.com
      • smtp.newnorth.net or
      • out.epix.net
      place a checkmark in the box to the left of My server requires authentication. Do not select Log on using Secure Password Authentication. Click the Settings button.
    • If your Outgoing mail (SMTP) is set to something other than:
      • smtp.frontier.com
      • smtp.frontiernet.net
      • smtp.citlink.net
      • smtp.newnorth.net
      • mail.ctaz.com or
      • out.epix.net
      no changes are needed.
    • If you were not instructed to click the Settings button, skip to Step 5.
  4. Select Log on using and enter your complete Frontier, FrontierNet, Citlink / CTAZ, Newnorth, or Epix email address in the Account name field. If your email address is in the format of username@ctaz.com, change ctaz.com to citlink.net (example: username@ctaz.com becomes username@citlink.net). Please note, this will not change your email address. Next, enter the password for this email address in the Password field. Do not select Log on using Secure Password Authentication. Click OK.

  5. Click Apply at the bottom of the window and click OK.
