Get Better Search Results

Here are a few handy tips to getting the most out of any  search engine:

  1. Avoid using common words such as "it" and "how" in your search. These words appear in so many places that they normally don't improve your search results.
  2. Narrow your search by typing a plus sign (+) in between words. For example, if you're searching for 1965 Ford Mustang Convertibles, type:
    1965 Ford Mustang + Convertible
  3. To exclude words, type a minus (-) sign between the words or phrases. For example, if you're searching for 1965 Ford Mustangs with no mention of the color red, type:
    1965 Ford Mustang - red
  4. If you want to search for two or more alternatives, use OR in capital letters. For example, type:
1965 Ford Mustang OR 1965 Chevy Corvette
  5. To search for an exact phrase or quotation, put it in quotation marks. For example, type:
"History will be kind to me for I intend to write it"
  6. To search for something that appears only on a specific web site, type: internet access
