What the Lights Mean

Connecticut customers: If your Frontier wireless gateway is a Motorola or 2WIRE brand, read  what the blinking lights mean.

Non-Connecticut customers: If everything is working well, your BBU or PSU will have a steady green light illuminated. If not, here are some troubleshooting tips.

If your BBU or PSU has no lights illuminated then it has no power. Use another electrical device (such as a lamp or a hair dryer) to make sure the electrical outlet is working. If it is working, but your BBU/PSU has no power, please call FiOS Technical Support for assistance.

When to Reboot How to Reboot
  • If BBU or PSU has steady red light. This means it is using battery power, not electrical power.
  • If BBU or PSU has blinking red light. This means battery power is low.
  • If BBU or PSU has blinking green light. This indicates a system fault.
  • Unplug PSU/BBU from electrical outlet.
  • Remove leads connecting battery to BBU or unplug wiring harness (if accessible).
  • Wait at least 30 seconds, then plug PSU/BBU back into electrical outlet.
  • Replace battery leads or wiring harness.
  • Look for PSU and BBU lights to be on, green and steady.

If your BBU or PSU has a steady red light after a reboot then the battery may need to be replaced. Your battery has a one-year warranty from the date of FiOS service installation. If your battery is in-warranty a replacement can be shipped to you at no cost. If it is out-of-warranty, you will be responsible for replacing the battery.
