I've changed my Frontier password. How do I change it in my modem?

If you change the password for your Frontier email account—for the main account, not a sub-account—you must change it in your Frontier modem, too.

Here's how to change your password in the following DSL Modems:


To change your password in the SS6520 modem:

  1. Open your web browser and type http://192.168.254.254 into your address bar.
  2. Click the blue 'Go' button on the top left hand side of the screen.
  3. You will now be asked to enter a username and password. The username should already be populated as admin. The password should also be admin or wirelessdsl.
  4. Once you have logged in, you should see 6 icons on the left hand side of the page. Select ISP Connection.
  5. In the middle of the page, you should see 'PPPoA(0) 0/35.' Click directly on the PPPoA portion.
  6. You should now see a screen that shows your Frontier email address as a username and a password. Change the password here to the one you just created. Then, click Save Settings.
  7. Now, click the Reboot icon on the left hand side of the screen. Click Reboot at the bottom. You will now see a countdown from 45 seconds indicating that your modem is rebooting. Once this has completed, the password will be changed.

To change your password in the SE567 modem:

  1. Open your web browser and type http://192.168.254.254 into your address bar.
  2. Click the blue 'Go' button on the top left hand side of the screen.
  3. You will now be asked to enter a username and password. The username should already be populated as admin. The password should also be admin or wirelessdsl.
  4. Once you have logged in, you should see 6 icons on the left hand side of the page. Select ISP Connection.
  5. In the middle of the page, you should see 'PPPoE 0/35.' Click directly on the PPPoE portion.
  6. You should now see a screen that shows your Frontier email address as a username and a password. Change the password here to the one you just created. Then, click Save Settings.
  7. Now, click the Reboot icon on the left hand side of the screen. Click Reboot at the bottom. You will now see a countdown from 45 seconds indicating that your modem is rebooting. Once this has completed, the password will be changed.

To change your password in the Westell 7500 modem:

  1. Open your web browser and type http://192.168.1.1 into your address bar.
  2. You will be asked to enter a username and password. The username will be admin and the password will be admin or password.
  3. Click Connected next to Internet Stats on the left hand side of the screen. It will be in green.
  4. Click the Edit icon to the right of My Connection.
  5. You will now see a page that contains your Frontier email address listed as the Account ID and your password as the Account Password. Change the password here to the one your just created. Then, click Apply. That's It! The password has been changed.

To change your password in theNetgear 7550 modem:

  1. Open your web browser and type http://192.168.254.254 into your address bar.
  2. You will be asked to enter a username and password. The username will be admin and the password will be admin or password.
  3. Click Connected next to Internet Stats on the left hand side of the screen. It will be in green.
  4. Click the Edit icon to the right of My Connection.
  5. You will now see a page that contains your Frontier email address listed as the Account ID and your password as the Account Password. Change the password here to the one your just created. Then, click Apply. That's It! The password has been changed.
