FAQs

I lost power. Do my Frontier services still work?

  • If you have Frontier internet, it won’t work without power. Your router needs power to bring internet to your home.
  • If you have Frontier Voice service, it will continue to work for a minimum of eight hours with a fully-charged battery backup unit.

I didn't lose power. Why isn't my Frontier internet working?

First, check here to see if there's a service outage in your area.

You can restart your router by pressing the power button on the back of the device, or unplug the device from the wall outlet, wait 60 seconds then plug it back in. Allow 2-5 minutes for the device to restart. Watch this short video if you need help restarting your router.

Make sure your Optical Network Terminal (ONT) has power. Your ONT may be plugged into a circuit breaker and/or GFCI outlet that can trip during a power outage or surge.

  • If your ONT outlet does not have power, you’ll need to find the breaker or reset the GFCI serving that outlet. Locate an outlet in the area that has two small buttons on it. One button says reset and the other says test.
  • Test the GFCI outlet by unplugging the ONT and plugging in a lamp, hairdryer or any corded electrical device you have.
  • Still have no power? You’ll need to reset the outlet by pressing the reset button. Plug your ONT back into the outlet and wait at least five minutes for power to restore.
  • If there’s still no power to that outlet, you can try plugging the ONT into a different outlet.

Can I pause my service?

Yes. Instead of canceling your Frontier services, you can put them on “hold.” This allows you to keep your number and frontier.net email address. Services that may be suspended include Residential Voice, Internet and Video, but not optional services like YouTube TV, Frontier Wire Care, directory listings and the like.
