Connect My Wireless Computer

There are two ways to connect a computer to your high-speed internet network: wired or wireless. Setting up your wireless connection takes just a few steps. Find your computer's operating system below to get started.


Windows 7

To connect your Windows 7 computer to a Wi-Fi network:
1 From your Windows desktop, click on the wireless icon in the lower right hand corner of your screen.
2 From the list of available wireless networks, click on your wireless network name. If you are unsure what the name is, look for the label on your Frontier supplied router. On the label you will see a section shown as SSID. The SSID is the network name you want to connect to.
3 Select your network and click Connect.
4 If prompted to enter a password, enter it in the space for a Security key and click OK. If you are unsure of the password, it can also be found on the label on your Frontier supplied router. It is in the section listed as WPA.
5 The wireless icon will indicate when your computer is connected.
Windows 8

To connect your Windows 8 computer to a Wi-Fi network:
1 Bring up the menu by hovering your mouse in the lower right hand corner of the screen.
2 Click the Settings icon, then click the Wireless icon.
3 Click to select your network's name in the list and clickConnect. If you are unsure what the name is, look for the label on your Frontier supplied router. On the label you will see a section shown as SSID. The SSID is the network name you want to connect to.
4 Enter your network's security password in the network security key field and click Next.If you are unsure of the password, it can also be found on the label on your Frontier supplied router. It is in the section listed as WPA.
5 Click Yes if this is your home network. Click No if you're connecting to a network that is not your own.
Windows 10

To connect your Windows 10 computer to a Wi-Fi network:
1 From your Windows desktop, click on the wireless icon in the lower right-hand corner of your screen.
2 Click to select your network's name in the list and click Connect. If you are unsure what the name is, look for the label on your Frontier supplied router. On the label you will see a section shown as SSID. The SSID is the network name you want to connect to.
3 Enter your network's security password in the network security key field and click Next. If you are unsure of the password, it can also be found on the label on your Frontier supplied router. It is in the section listed as WPA.
4 Click Yes if this is your home network; click No if you're connecting to a network that is not your own.

Macintosh

To connect your Macintosh computer to a Wi-Fi network:

1 Click on the Wireless icon near the upper right corner of the screen.
2 From the drop-down menu, click to make sure your wireless is turned on.
3 Find the network you wish to connect to and click on it. If you are unsure what your wireless network name is, look for the label on your Frontier supplied router. On the label you will see a section shown as SSID. The SSID is the network name you want to connect to.
4 If the network is password-protected, type in the password and click Join.
5 Your Mac will now join the wireless network automatically. The wireless icon will change from gray to black when it is connected. You will also be able to see the network with a check next to it if you click on the wireless icon.
