Your Unbreakable Wi-Fi device gives you 4G LTE wireless connectivity during a network outage.
Unbreakable Wi-Fi is an add-on service for Frontier Fiber Internet subscribers with included eero routers. It provides a device with a backup cellular internet connection to your eero Wi-Fi router during an internet service outage. When you buy this service, we provide you with a device that has a built-in backup cellular connection, and it connects via Ethernet cable to one of the Frontier-provided eeros in your home’s Wi-Fi network. This device detects when your Frontier internet service is not working and switches to a backup cellular connection. For an additional one-time charge, you can also purchase a battery back-up from our approved vendor. The battery will keep your Wi-Fi network connected to the internet for up to 4 hours. The battery will keep your Wi-Fi network connected to the internet for up to 4 hours during a power outage.
Unbreakable Wi-Fi includes 130GB of data per billing cycle, which you can use for everyday internet tasks on devices connected to your Wi-Fi network. The maximum speeds supported by the backup connection are approximately 50/5 Mbps. The service is not suitable for use for emergency/911, and medical and certain other uses.* Your backup connection will provide internet connectivity until your fiber connection becomes available or your household uses your 130GB allocation of data, whichever occurs first. The 130GB of included data automatically resets at the start of each billing cycle. Unused data at the end of a billing period does not rollover to the next billing period, including in partial billing periods. The service will only work during an internet network outage at your service address.
Unbreakable Wi-Fi includes 130GB of monthly data. What you can do with 130GB of data:
1. Watch approx. 60 hours (about 5 days) of streaming video (Netflix, Hulu, or Prime Video).
2. Video chat on Zoom for approx. 80 hours (about 7 days).
If you’ve used all of your included data, your backup connection will turn off and your internet-connected devices won’t connect to your Wi-Fi through the backup device. Your data allowance will not refresh until the next billing cycle.
No. We provide the device to you while you subscribe to the service. When you cancel the service, you must return the device to us or pay a $250 unreturned device charge. If you separately purchase a backup battery for the device, it does not need to be returned at service cancellation.
Your device will come with a QR code to installation instructions and troubleshooting. You can also view those instructions at frontier.com/unbreakable.
You can manage the devices you want to keep connected to Unbreakable Wi-Fi by selecting them in the eero app and toggling LTE on/off for the selected device. Please note, your devices must be charged or have an external power source to connect to Backup Internet.
An internet outage occurs when your Frontier Internet service is interrupted, but your home still has power. During an internet outage, the Unbreakable Wi-Fi device uses a cellular connection to provide devices connected to your Wi-Fi network with access to the internet.
To use Unbreakable Wi-Fi during a network outage, you’ll need:
A power outage occurs when your home loses electrical power, which will also cause your fiber internet to go offline. During a power outage, the Unbreakable Wi-Fi device uses a power pack (sold separately) to stay powered on for up to 4 hours. This allows the Unbreakable Wi-Fi device to use its cellular connection to provide any devices connected to your Wi-Fi network with access to the internet, provided they are charged. If you do not have power packs for your Unbreakable Wi-Fi device, it will not function during a power outage, regardless of whether you have available data.
